Over 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats reside under the Congress Street Bridge, which is adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Austin, host of ICAAR 2012. Nightly viewings are available from the hotel and its surroundings, but we have arranged for a private, 3-hour river cruise that will allow for close-up viewing of the emergence of the bats and a scenic tour of the beautiful Lady Bird Lake. The tour, operated by Capitol Cruises, will depart at approximately 8:00 pm on Monday, May 21. The cost of this optional cruise will be $30 and will include ice cold Texas beer.
